Chicago Lumineers

Lumineers are an ultra-thin type of porcelain veneers made by Den-Mat Corporation. A big selling point for many is that they are very thin and strong.

Made out of Cerinate porcelain, Lumineers, are 0.3mm in thickness which makes them a bit thinner than the 0.5mm thickness of traditional porcelain veneers, as shown in the diagram to the right. This means that in some cases there is no tooth preparation required.

Dr. Paul Landman is certified to place Lumineers.

Are Lumineers The RIght Choice?

The Lumineer brand is very popular due to heavy marketing and name recognition. Although, some Lumineer patients share a common complaint that they can make your smile look bulky. This could happen when there is no tooth preparation. The application is convenient and pain-free, but your teeth may feel thicker and will end up being about two millimeters longer. They may work well for some patients, but the no tooth preparation technique isn't for everyone.

There are several brands of ultra-thin veneers that may be better suited for you. For example, another brand of ultra-thin porcelain veneers is DURAThin which has many of the same benefits.

Both Dr. Paul Landman and Dr. Carole Landman are experienced in placing many types of porcelain veneers. We will take the time to explain the pros and cons for every option, so you can make an informed decision that is right for your particular case.

If you want to know if you're a candidate for Lumineers, we offer a complimentary consultation. We'll take 5-10 minutes with you to answer your questions and tell you whether or not we think this treatment will work for you. Call us at (312) 266-6480 or visit our make an appointment page.
